Before, between, and after: numbers to 10
This skill helps preschool and Grade 1 learners find their way along the numbers to 10. Identify the number immediately before another number, immediately after it, or between two numbers.
How to practice:
- Read or listen to the question, such as “Which number comes just after five?”
- Tap the button showing the correct answer.
- Tap Help to use the number line as a guide.
Use the speaker button to hear the instructions. This also supports children who are not yet confident readers or find written instructions difficult to follow.
The questions develop an understanding of number order, rather than simply memorizing a counting sequence. Every number has its own place.
Understanding before, between, and after supports number comparison, addition, subtraction, work on a number line, sequences, and number patterns.
