Build habits for communicating mathematics clearly across no-calculator, calculator and synthesis work.
Paper 1 — no GDC
Prioritize exact algebra, justified transformations and a readable chain of reasoning.
Paper 2 — GDC
Write the model or equation, show the operation used and interpret calculator output in context.
Paper 3 — investigation and synthesis
Connect representations, test conjectures and explain why a method answers the larger problem.
Exact vs decimal answers
Keep exact values when requested or when they reveal structure. Carry full calculator precision and round only the final value.
Showing calculator working
State the equation, probability or integral you entered. A decimal with no mathematical setup rarely communicates enough.
Understanding “show that”
Begin from known information and reach the stated result without assuming it. Include the step that establishes the required form.
Understanding “hence”
Use the result from the previous part. Look for a substitution or interpretation that avoids restarting the problem.
