This skill helps preschool and Grade 1 learners explore number bonds within 5. Learn how two parts can combine to make one number.
How to practice:
- Read or listen to a question such as “There are 2 houses. How many more do you need to make 5?”
- Tap the answer showing how many objects to add.
- Tap Help to display spaces for the missing objects.
Use the speaker button to hear the instructions. This also supports children who are not yet confident readers or find written instructions difficult to follow.
The questions practice mathematical thinking, attention, memory, and reasoning. Children become more fluent with numbers within 5 and remember pairs that make a given total.
Number bonds support quicker, more confident addition and subtraction, simple calculations, and later work with larger numbers.
