Ordinal numbers to 10

This skill helps preschool and early elementary learners count objects in order and understand ordinal positions up to 10.

How to practice:

• Look at the row of up to 10 pictures. Find the picture in the requested position, such as first, third, or fifth.
• Read or listen to a question such as “Which picture is second?”
• Choose the matching picture. Tap Help if you need to see the correct position.

Use the speaker button to hear the instructions. This also supports children who are not yet confident readers or find written instructions difficult to follow.

These questions give practice in attention, visual recognition, memory, reasoning, and mathematical language. A number can describe how many objects there are or where an object comes in a sequence.

Understanding position supports following instructions, working with sequences, and solving later mathematics problems. Look carefully, count in order, and avoid skipping a picture. The activity also supports concentration and independent practice.
